As the topic's title is "Future of hosting industry", I want to make some comments on this.

It is true that hosting industry is expanding, and it will keep expanding. A good example of this growth is the fax machine. How many people had faxes back in the 80's, 70's, 60's....

Web is like that. Before 20 years the web presence was a privillege of the very big corporations, but now a small freelancer HAS a site.

With those terms web hosting industry will keep growing for many years, but I believe this will make profits only for the big carriers, because in the end of the line they define the rules of the game.

Right now there are dozens of companies, and even home users with fast internet connections and a bit of knowledge are starting hosting companies.

I believe there is no room for them, as the big players are about to extinguish them. I suppose the big bang will be when Google or Microsoft will get into the game.

What's your opinion on this?
