Yeah if you give a few more details then im sure people here could suggest a few good ways to promote your site. Adding it to forum directorys is always a good one, also you'll be surprised at how well word of mouth works if you can get a few regulars they usually tell their friends etc, maybe offer an incentive like a competition for the person who referrs the most people....

You want free ways right? Directories, directories, directories. Topsites work too; both targeted ones (like here) and more general topsites (like here). The directories can increase traffic and pagerank, and topsites increase traffic and give you a general idea of how much traffic you're getting.

I can see it now.
I think g might penalize you slightly for having too high a keyword density on "website" and your sitemap will be more effective if it doesnt have menu bars and ads on it... it should be as simple as possible. I don't even use tables on mine. It should also be closer to the very top or very bottom of the page.
