Expert Linux Server Admin for Web Media Startup - Canada

We run a rapidly growing web service which has recently been hit with some
growing pains on the server administration side that are putting a damper on our
growth. To alleviate some of these problems, we are calling upon the services of
a smart, talented and reputable server admin consultant who will be able to
guide us and implement our server management strategy going forward for high
performance and high availability.



We require the following of you:

-Dedicated and serious about server administration. If you have a passion for
server admin, security, high traffic management, and the complexities of
admining a thriving site, then you fit the ticket

-Experience in implementing high availability servers requiring RAID solutions,
load balancers, clustering, etc.

-Experience managing high traffic, and many servers. (~10k+ concurrent
connections, 1mm uniques+/day)

-Intimate knowledge of apache and various flavours of linux, freebsd and control
panels.

-Ability to strip down apache and customize it as required

-Developing customized monitoring systems to ensure high performance and
evaluate site trends. (load utilization, system resources)

-Strong scripting ability is also desired (shell, perl, php)

-Fine tuning server security and proper resource allocation/assessment
(allocation of traffic to one of many servers depending on load, automate
allocation of upload/downloads to right server)

-Membership/involvement with various Apache/Linux
foundations/newsgroups/organizations is a definite asset.
