I often find cool websites while at work, but once I get home I can't remember them... So instead of signing up with one of those online favorites websites I thought it would be a cool project to make one of those myself. Theres still some things that need to be added (like categorizing your bookmarks) but the basics work and I'm very happy with the results! For anyone who doesn't know what this is about, let me explain: The "online favorites" websites let you sign up and manage your bookmarks online. So instead of adding a bookmark in Firefox (or favorite in Internet Explorer) you store your bookmarks on the website. The great thing about this is that you have access to your bookmarks where ever you are. So if you just got yourself a new computer or decided to switch to a different browser, theres no need to export/import your bookmarks, just browse to the website and your bookmarks are all there! If you work on different computers a lot (at home, at work, at the library) this is definitely something you should give a try! Have a look at www.myonlinebookmarks.com and let me know how you like it!

nobody want to try this? The bookmarks can now be categorized into categories that you can create yourself. I'm working on a better admin panel, but it is all working. What do you think about user-banners at the top of the page? Every user that has signed up can put his own banner in. All the banners will rotate sitewide, so other users will see your banner and you will see other banners, this means free banner space if you sign up...

please do test it and let me know! I really like the domain name too, I have another one that I will use for the same service, thats what my 'cross domain DB access' question was about The front page will contain the most bookmarked sites, so if 10 people have the same site in their bookmarks list it will show it... I'm still thinking about what else to put on the (users) front page, maybe some CNN news headlines with RSS or let the user decide which RSS feed he wants too see. It has to be usefull enough to use this page as your default page

Ok I've just registered.
I really like your idea, but I think you need some work on the implementation.
First I think you need a better layout. This one is too old fashion. As this server would be used more by ages about 15-25, I think that you should do something more targeted to this audience.
Also you need a little work in the register area. Maybe a 'get started' section or something would be great. You can also make the actions interlinked. For example besides a link you can have some buttons (delete, assign to category, etc.)
And of course you need to add some content in your first page.
A last friendly advice : Don't waste this great idea for a pure design

Thanks for taking the time to try it out! I know it still needs a lot of work, I'm working on it. Completing all the functionality I want to add is the first priority right now, I'll redo the layout when it's all working.

Check it out! The site has a brand new design http://www.myonlinebookmarks.com In your personal page you can add your own banner to the sitewide banner pool and you can add your favorite RSS feeds! Give it a try (even if its only to add your banner )

I know this isn't a site review category (and maybe we should get one added?!) but I thought that I should coment on the design. The new one looks much better by the way, well done!
I think that the link are hard to see though... maybe underline then or make them another colour to make it clearer. I found myself scanning the page with my mouse trying to find links.

Thanks for checking it out! Yes I guess we do need a 'review my site' section. I'll try how some other colors for the links work out. Anyone else want to add their banner to the site FOR FREE?
