Wordpress is more suitable than core php. You can do everything with wodpress.

According to me PHP has more new and advanced features then Word Press, So I recommend you PHP.

I would say PhP because it can be more dynamic then wordspress...

I prefer Wordpress because it gives all built-in features in the form of plugins where core PHP is purely based on coding.
