A friend of mine had hosting with them, and I went to do some maintenance work on his site. First of all I am getting denied access to his FTP, and when going through his (extremely scanty) control panel, it turns out they're charging tons more than they should be! The "plan" he is on isn't even advertised on their site, and it doesn't give him the option of getting a plan that costs less than 20 bucks a month, though their site advertises prices as low as 5.

I, for one, think that's rather disgraceful. Is this a one-time thing or have others had problems with this company?

Well I don't use them, the friend of mine does. I've been trying to convince him to change companies, but he wants to simply change plans (he's worried about what will happen to his e-mail if he transfers the domain)

Download all the emails and them move the domain to a new server... you shouldn't lose any mail this way. Put a forwarder on the email on the old server to a hotmail accoutn or similar before you move the demain.

Thanks for the advice Smiley

He's not too... how to put it... confident with the way that would turn out, so he's simply changing plans.
