This is a copy - paste aricle so don't give credit back to me
Content is king! Long live the king! Website owners, ezine publishers and bloggers are hungry for new fresh relevant content. It is going to become even more important in the future in order to have your website listed and ranked in search engines. Many of the old methods search engines used have changed. Relevant content and natural links to your website are going to be what gets you ranked higher in search engines.
The best way to achive this is by writting new articles and having them published. The best way to get them published is by submitting to the many article directories on the internet. Once they have archived your article then others looking for fresh content for their sites can download your article. Your link to your website stays with the article, giving you dozens or hundreds of links back to your site. For example if you submit your article to 10 different sites and your article gets republished 10 times you could have 100 instant links back to your website. This is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website. But wait, many articles don't just get downloaded 10 times, they get downloaded hundreds of times. 10 sites x 100 downloads gives you the potential of 1000 links! Now that is potential for large amounts of traffic.
There are many article directories out there. Some submission services charge for submissions, sometimes up to $700 a year. Many are free. Some are general directories and will take articles on all subjects, others are specialized niche directories. Depending on what your subject is you should probably submit to as many as possible to get maximum exposure.
If you have an article to submit or are looking for free content for your ezine, website or blog check out these sites:

I see this thread being about 2 months old. I am wondering why nobody has replyed to this yet.
It reminds me of a classifieds add I see every week:
Make Money From Home Stuffing Envelops! Call 1-800-555-5555 for info NOW!
And then when you call, they send you a flyer and say "Copy this flyer and send it to as many places you can get an address from!" and that's what they mean by stuffing envelopes. Oh yeah, what does that flyer say? "Make Money at Home STuffing Envelopes!"

I guess I didn't have a point.
I did.. but I don't know anymore.
Ah, I should have used a better example.
Don't get me wrong, It wasn't meant to have a negative connotaion.
It's like back in the P2P days... there was this file called: "Secret Kazaa Download Hack" and when you downloaded it and read it, all it said was "share this file and get lots of download points" lol.
It's the Cause & Effect tumbling into Effect & Cause.
Pretty cool actually.

This is such an interesting aspect of working on the Internet.
To improve your credibility and get links you have to give away your knowledge, time, and writings so others can make money from your work. It would be one thing if I approached someone and said I can write articles, you have a popular site, could we work something out?; but this wholesale thing is something different entirely.
I can't see many other fields where that would last more than a minute. Oh, Mr. Housebuilder just build houses, give them to others, let them rent the house to someone else, and then just maybe we'll consider you know how to build houses. Oh, but we do promise to keep this here plaque in plain sight that says it was you who actually built the house.
Down the road I'll probably have to give in and do this too, but the entire concept seems rediculous to me.

I don't think your comparison to the housebuilder is very good. It is more like: Mr.Housebuilder setting up a stand at the local housebuilders fare, handing out flyers and telling people about what building methods are good and why. Now hanging around on the housebuilders fare is not going to bring him in any money, but he is getting his name out...

Most of the people who use the free articles are putting them on their own sites and then selling ads based upon the keywords in the articles. They have no intention of paying for the services of the original author in the future.
While I suppose someone might read one of those articles and find their way to the author's website and might actually buy their product or service; I wonder what the true numbers for conversions are.
The fliers that a housebuilder would give out at the local housebuilders fare are not likely going to be used by a third party to earn income; but, they could convince someone to use their service in the future. Big difference.
This is a very good way of promoting your site if you think about it a little: You write an article with a lot of relevant keywords ellegantly mixed in, your article will be on a part of a website with related content and you have a link to your own site from this page, this link has a lot more value than a link from a page on an unrelated subject. And since there are so many article sites around you can have a lot of one-way incomming links (which is way better than link exchange) this is not only about the people comming to your site thru the link in the published article! In fact you won't see many visitors comming from your article directly! but: you will have links that will make your site move up higher in the list of results in the search engines! Check out http://www.iloveadsense.com/ I have posted some more info on article submission on there, you'll be surprised how effective this is!

I understand the link building aspect of the process.
And while better placement in the search engines would have potential for more conversions, why not keep keyword rich content for your own site? Have the searches coming directly to your own site?
So I write this wonderful article. Folks all over the Internet post it on their sites and actually keep the original bio and links. How long before dup content penalties come into play and the mutlitudes of identical link text and body text make each of the articles fairly useless for seo?
I would love if someone could explain to me what it is I am missing here.
Why not submit to directories and share your information in forums like this one and keep the original keyword rich articles on my own site? I still get links, develop credibility, and can still freely share information with others.

its just another way of getting links to your site, and since nobody really knows how the search engines work I guess its good to use all the different methods, to reduce the risk of dropping down 4234 pages in the search results because the only method you are using is being banned by the search engine by change of algorithm...
Just another rainy day
