SMO is very demandable in promoting marketing.. and Google plus, which is also included in SMO is also very helpful for promoting your site and can drive good traffic to your website.

Social Media promotion is helpful to increase the website visibility. Google Said +1 is not useful for direct ranking. Increasing social shares does not guarantee for higher ranking on search engines.

Yes, SMO is a good strategy for marketing, but all does not help in ranking Google Plus is good for increasing authority of your website.
