I have already uploaded a set of 9 videos to several different platforms through Tubemogul.com, but I was wondering if it was better when I add it to my site to embed from one of these platforms (vimeo, youtube, metacafe) or host the file on my platform. Thoughts? Usability? SEO?

I think it is better to host it on another site, because this way you will save a lot of bandwidth, and you can use the video to promote your site/services.

Agreed with Nikolas on this one. Its much better and cheaper (hosting-wise) to use a dedicated video site than your own site. And just as effective

Can anyone recommend a good program for "mastering" videos that you record on your Mac or PC?

Embed, why waste your bandwidth? And pay more money on your hosting?

Video is the technology of electronically capturing, recording, processing, storing, transmitting, and reconstructing a sequence of still images representing scenes in motion.

Personally, I prefer the embed method, but if you have bandwidth to burn, you can display your videos on your own site at a much higher resolution than any of the free services will allow. This is probably the only reason to host the video yourself: quality.
