Hello,

Latelly I heared about people that care to submit your site to directories (with a fee of course)

Can you name some services like that?

I think that using a service like that would be very usefull for a new site.

Everything I've seen recommends against using those services. Many of them promise submission to x number of directories but make no promises as to the amount that will accept. If they do, they most likely own the directories too.

All the links are the same, all the descriptions are the same and many directories have set up required entries that prevent such submissions.

Hand submission is the best route; even though it is time consuming. There are many websites that list directories that accept your listing for free or with a reciprocal link.

Two great directories to start with are the100lists.com (owned by a member here) and thetopsites.com (owned by the owner of this forum). Both are giving me traffic and the longer you hang around here, you will find they are also quite nice.

I would suggest you to submit your site yourself to the top 10 directories and then to some smaller directories in your niche as you find them. I don't think it's worth paying for that kind of service since you don't know the results.

None can promise who will accept your site, but anyway this depends on what your site is about, and what titles, descriptions you will provide for your listings.

I am glad that my directory sends you traffic. Sounds like a win - win situation Smiley

Now regarding those services, I am totally against the automated submittions. About those services that people submit your site through hand, I have heared good things, and I would like to test it with my next site. I heared that you can also give them multiple titles and descriptions for your links, which makes the SEO process better.

If I'll do something like that in the future I will update the thread with my results Smiley
