I was looking over PayPal's site and I was wondering if anyone here is selling services and accepts PayPal for payment?

I looked over the business options and since there will be no shopping cart involved, I am not sure what plan I would fit under. Would I just need to get a personal account and have people pay through the PayPal site?

Yeah, I know another question.  Embarrassed

I use the IPN, and I can say that it is very good as you can automate the process with it.

If you are into this way and you want to code it, you should use the PHP Paypal IPN Integration Class v1.2.0 Visit through proxy it is a great tool.

On the other hand if you want to go the easy way, there is a tool in the paypal user area where you can create buttons for each product that you sell. It is very usefull as you don't have to code anything, but still you will not telling your clients to pay you through email (I think it is a little unprofessional to make them login to their account and send you the money)

Hello,

I think about to build an application which is using paypal for payments. Actually I'm not happy with the costs and I think that paypal is not accepted in all european countries.

Do you know alternative payment service providers?

requirements:
- low transaction fees
- accepted by internet users
- no monthly (startup) fee
- accepting credit cards without the requirement of an account (like moneybookers)

Paypal have the feautures that you mentioned Olaf.

I don't think there is an alternative that users know and have those feautures, but if this ecommerce application is country specific, then you can try a local bank.

It have to be a payment method for international sales, the problem is that the local companies are very expensive. I know about the features of paypal, but maybe there is something better...

Then I can tell you for sure that there isn't.

When gPay will finally start it's services maybe it will, but untill now the best is paypal, and the most imporant is that everyone knows - trusts this company.

yes if someone has payed with a credit card he can tell his creditard company that this payment was not OK. Paypal will accept this chargeback with 60 days after the payment. a paypal merchant has not really a chance to fight this back

Thanks for your comment, I use them too and I think that paypal is OK but its also expensive and in some countries it doesn't have a good name.

Finally I found IPP here in Holland with normal rates and I will try them in my next project.

Sounds interesting.

Maybe I will try it to the next project. I have allready made a module for integration with paypal, but it have some bugs, so I guess this can make the job easy (I mean I can buy this script instead of debugging for hours...)

Most of the account in paypal are not activated, I think you should use alternate payment processor with paypal otherwise you might loss some sales from those customers who are not using credit card and have not activated their account with paypal. Assuming you are from EU you can have a look to ChronoPay.com their charges are lowest and they are offering good service.
