Web Developer / Technologist - United States

Krate, a lean NYC-based design studio, is seeking a fun, self-motivated web developer with a passion for technology and a solid PHP, CSS, and database skills. We are looking for someone who can step in and take a lead in building, advising, and exploring web technologies. The candidate will be responsible for back-end and front-end site development. Experience building small to medium-size dynamic sites and content management systems is key.

Requirements: 
* 3-5 years development or related experience
* Excellent PHP skills
* Excellent CSS, HTML/XHTML skills
* Strong understanding of SQL databases (MySQL/SQL Server)
* JavaScript
* XML 
* Strong knowledge of current web standards & browser/platform compatibility issues

Responsibilities
* Support and advise Design Director in all areas of web development
* Participate in overall creative process - design through deployment
* Build custom CMS and database-driven solutions
* Develop templates/pages from static mockups
* Seek out new technologies and implement into future solutions
* Serve as an authority on best practices for coding, web standards, web 2.0 technologies
* Provide technical and production related updates to ongoing projects

Pluses: 
* Experience with other technologies (.NET, ColdFusion, ASP) 
* E-commerce, shopping carts, etc.
* Familiarity wtih AJAX, WordPress, Movable Type, etc.
