I will bookmark this thread.

It would be great to know if this list is accurate.

Nikolas - thanks for getting in touch with me and I'll try to answer the questions raised on this thread.

There are a number of vendors of high paying keyword lists and they do research in a variety of different ways. The problem they have with AdWords (which underpins virtually all AdSense income)  is that no keyword has a fixed price because the price you pay for a click can vary from minute to minute depending on competition for that keyword. The price also varies with the click through rate of your ad which means that successful ads that have a high click through rate will cost the advertiser less per click than a click on an ad that attracts a low click through rate even if both advertisers are bidding exactly the same amount for the keywords that trigger the display of the ads.

So the income generation process that goes on behind AdSense is complex (I've written a more detailed explanation on this page http://www.factsaboutadsense.com/vickrey.htm Visit through proxy) and don't forget that Google doesn't hand over all the money it charges the advertiser either.

Given this fact, providers of high paying keyword lists can't guarantee to be 100% accurate so what really matters is not so much the exact price they cite for a given keyword but the fact that they point out valuable areas.  If you see that some keywords you are interested in are worth around 5 cents but others are worth around 5 dollars, you can be reasonably certain that it's going to be more worthwhile going after the 5 dollar ads. And likewise, if you see some topics that attract 20 dollar ads then that is likely to be a more lucrative territory than the 5 dollar topics.

I've had free access to a lot of different keyword lists because I run a newsletter on AdSense and they all have slightly different ways of doing research. This doesn't stop the basic information in them from being useful.

One of the simplest methods is simply to look up the price on Overture and assume that the prices on the AdWords system will be the same. In practice they won't be but the overall size of the bid price on Overture for a given keyword is usually going to be indicative of the value on Google

The list mentioned earlier in this thread was given to me by one provider who describes his methodology in reasonable detail on his website. He doesn't explain everything because that info is proprietary to his business. If you download the list, which you are welcome to do, then you should note that all such lists have a shelf-life because the value of keywords rises and falls over time.  You can get a more up to date list from his site but that will cost you some money. You can also ask him to create special lists round particular themes.

The reason I make it available freely from my site is because I wanted to give people a gift for signing up to my newsletter and the vendor of this list agreed that I could offer a restricted list to subscribers on this basis. In practice, this leads people back to his site and from time to time he sells stuff as a result so he wins, I win with more subscribers, and my subscribers win with valuable free info.

If you'd like more info about his methodology you can get it from http://www.factsaboutadsense.com/rckw.htm Visit through proxy - this is my affiliate link to his site.

Free keyword research tool

A tool that can help you do your own research, an approach that makes sense if you don't want to buy a list, is to use something called the keyword dowser. This tool essentially automates a lot of the processes to do with researching the value of keywords. So you are telling that these figures are like predictions relative to what other cpc programs have in their public statistics.

Very nice work done, and it is great that you give this information for free.

Keep up the good work! Smiley

I will signup to your newsletter.
