This question come to my mind while I was chatting with Olaf regarding some domain names.

What do you think? Is it better to have a domain with hyphens or not?

Which is better? mydomain.com or my-domain.com ?

Personally I prefer non hyphen domains, but this is just because I see those better.

I don't have a marketing related answer about this. What about you?

I like them both, if they short and powerfull "php4all" with out hypens and longer ones with hypens:
webmaster-support-forum

because it is reading much better, some charachters like the "r" or "n" are much better to read if they are seperated by a hypen, example:
manrum.tld or man-rum.tld (what a strange name)

With so many cheesy MFA sites using hyphenated keyword domain names, I would hesitate using hyphens.

I think too more people are used to just running the words all together when they type in URLs.

MFA = made for adsense

Usually have little to no worthwhile content (usually just enough for Google to serve ads) with ads and affiliate banners all over the place. Some go to a bit more effort and buy a group of articles and use them for the content.

Most domainers avoid hyphens...although, I was just reading that Online-Casinos.info sold for $5,000 on Afternic. You'd have to be out of your mind to offer something like that...

yes right, I think that webdesign has a higher value than web-design, this thread is not anly about which one will get a higher price, its about what name is better to use for communication, reading and SEO...
