Enotes.com, LLC is looking for a seriously good PHP programmer. We're a small, but profitable company that specializes in selling educational materials online. This is NOT an entry level position nor is it a contract position. This is a salaried position that includes medical benefits.
What you need:
- 5+ Years of PHP programming experience (our developers average 7-8 years of experience).
- A solid foundation in PHP5's OOP
- A solid knowledge of how the MVC pattern works
- Detailed knowledge of decorator patterns, factory patterns, singletons, etc, etc. (Hint: if you don't know what these are then don't apply)
- Working knowledge of Smarty and PEAR (PEAR developers preferred)
- Working knowledge of Debian GNU/Linux
- Detailed knowledge of BASH, ssh, cron and the GNU utils in general
- Candidates with experience working on sites with 10+ million page views a month will have a strong advantage over those without high traffic experience.
- Knowledge of XML, XSLT, CSS, XHTML, Subversion and AJAX is preferred, but not necessarily required.
What you'll get:
- A salaried position
- Medical benefits
- Red Bull (diet and regular, depending on your preference)
- A fun and relaxed dot com environment without worrying about your next paycheck
- Lot's of fun toys to play with (trust me, we have some really cool toys)
- Experience managing all aspects of a site that does 15 million page views a month
Who should not apply:
- Those who don't understand what this command does (no cheating): find . -type f -name \*.bak -exec rm -f {} \;
- Those who don't know the difference between abstract, public, private, static and protected off the top of their head.
- Those who aren't firmly in the OOP and Web 2.0 camp.
- Those who send their resumes in Word format. Seriously, send a text file or a link to an HTML version only.
You'll be working in a small development team of two experienced PHP programmers who've managed high traffic sites for years (over 15 years of LAMP experience between the two of us), have spoken at conferences such as MySQL UC, are active PEAR developers and written tons of articles for such publications as PHPBuilder and O'Relly. In other words, we're uber geeks who love hacking on PHP. Our team handles both programming (65,000+ lines of custom code) and systems administration (about 20 or so servers) so you'll need to be comfortable doing typical systems administration (this will be shared amongst all three of us).
In other words, this is an absolutely kick ass job working with some awesome programmers creating applications and services that will consistently challenge and entertain you.
