Do they really work?  Because I just checked my site on two of them and they showed only 6 links.  I have linked my site to dozens of directories and forums.

Why does that happen?


Any good seo tools sites you would recommend?

Of course a backlink checker works, since the script is looking for the link inside the target html.

Harmony is propably talking for links that exist, but don't exist in search engines.

This is done mostlty by Google, but don't worry they count in your pagerank. They just get some time to be displayed in the link: queries.

I had read somewhere that Google only lists backlinks from sites of PR4 or higher.

Can't say as I've done any research on that though.
