unless they are able to impersonate you with their own set of fake IDs with your name on it, its a little difficult to steal your Adsense account because your name and even your email cannot be changed.

you can only wonder why they came up with these programs and just give it away for free... what's their purpose for doing so... do they have a sinister agenda...

Don't take this as a lead that their software is spyware, because most of the software companies out there create free programs to promote their services.
That doesn't mean that they spy on you.
I think a test with a sniffer would give us the best answer here

what is this about?
of course people developing extensions, modules and themes like to have visits on their websites.
I trust freeware tools from other developers if thy are listed at mozilla's homepage...I don't think that open source programmers think so much about fraude and other criminal things (maybe I'm wrong???)

In one of the "How much money do you make?" threads I've seen lately, someone lamented that folks weren't telling.
Finally, someone posted that those folks who are making big dollars with Adsense, YPN, and the others don't respond to those posts for fear of theft. They further explained that rippers seek out sites where the owner foolishly boasted of earnings. Makes sense, copy what works.
Seems like this tool or a program derived from it could make this process even easier.

Hey guys, I am the creator of the Firefox extension Adsense Notifier. Thanks for all the kind words, glad that many of you find the extension so useful.
In regards to the security of your Adsense username and password, one should always take care to ensure that any of the programs and extensions that they install on their computer are trustworthy. Any program that you install on your PC _could_ have the capability to steal your passwords.
To that, the source code for Adsense Notifier is completely open source (released under the GPL) and is actually included within the .XPI install file. To view the source yourself simply rename the .XPI to .ZIP and unzip, then under the 'chrome' directory, rename the .JAR to .ZIP and unzip. This contains the actual code that runs the notifier.
I appreciate all of your feedback, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments!

@mincus,
there is one bad point with you great extension: you look much more often into the lower right corner of you computer screen to note how much money you have already earned
