This month I though to create an arcade site.

As there is not much time to develop it myself, I decided to purchase a ready script, and after a small research I found gameScript as the best(gameScript.net) as it has a lot of feautures including search engine optimized urls/pages and more than 1000 games.

Regarding the traffic, I don't have a big problem as my network has enough traffic to start this site.

My concern is how to monetize this site. I mean in the way that I think it, someone who is going to a site to play a game is not the kind of person that will click on an adsense ad. On the other hand I don't think that it would be wise to have pop ups in a site like that.

What is your opinion? Can you help me find a way to monetize such a site?

I personally think if you have ads on the game pages people will click them if they are relevent enough. This is because there are small load times and people get somewhat fidgety and look around at what else is on the website.

How much traffic do you have for it? Lucky bugger Wink

You are right, I haven't think of that. Maybe I will start with adsense, and see how it goes.

I can't really know that, but the rest of my sites have some hundrends of thousands of pageviews per month, so I think I can send some traffic to this site too Smiley

Did you tried adsense with no luck, or you are one of the banned adsensers?

Nope, I'm looking at adsense later on when I start to build up a bit more traffic Smiley Adengage is good for me at the moment as I'm cheap for people to advertise on...

Can you tell a little about your traffic?

What sources of traffic do you have?

Zilch! Smiley

It's working on word of mouth at the moment and I've purchased some minor traffic recently but it will be interesting what comes about as a result of that.. I'm only pushing about 30-40 uniques atm.. Oh well only been up for a couple of days so not too bad I guess!

That would be ideal for the situation, but it is very hard to get into a CPM program, especcially with a site like this.

Well I don't really like ready made scripts as its hard to add things on if your site gets big (like a video or music section) and also you have to customize it heavily and so it doesn't like the all the others.
Secoundly I think you should have adsence ads and put a 60 X 70 picture of a game infront of them. This even gets me on some game sites. I look at the picture and not the text (kind of like trick the user into clicking)
And Lastly, thanks for that article Smiley
P.S get some good original games and put them on your site. A great original games site is www.gprime.org Visit through proxy, this is where i get mine (im not affiliate in any way)

That's true. Making your own is allways better, but some times if you can modify an allready good script is good too (like this forum)
