I'm in the same boat Nikolas..
I'm skeptical about e-books and feel that webmasters shouldn't have to read one to be sucessful.. A load of crap really?

There is another thing about that also.
To really learn something you have to find it yourself. Let me tell you something from my country's history.
Alexander the Great when he was at age 18 he asked his teacher (Aristoteles) to teach him how to conquer the world. Aristoteles tolled him "Start conquer the world, and you will learn how to do it"
It is very significant to learn yourself as this is the only way to understand. All the things that you need can be found in a forum or other resource sites, and if you are persistent enough you will accomblish what you want no matter what.
An ebook can give some tips, but all the tips are good for specific sites/cases. To see what your site needs, you have to test it yourself. There is no other way.
So for me it is more valuable how motivated you are, than how experienced you are.

Exactly,
Something that has worked for someone else really well isn't going to work for everyone! Some people just get lucky with certain things and ride the wave then they start selling the idea once it starts to die down

What I see is someone who joined our little forum here and within 45 minutes made 10 posts all of which promote himself, his articles, and his sites.
I hope time proves me wrong. Maybe it is because of timing, but when I checked new posts since last visit, his lined up all in a row. My apologies if I am wrong. It should be interesting to see if he comes back.

I just brought it up because he is talking about materials for sale and it sounded like you and wisie might be considering it.
I suspect some dedicated time spent reading some of the more respected/active forums would give the same or better knowledge that many of these ebooks are selling.
There are so many of these ebooks out there for making money on the Internet, I'm beginning to suspect that there's more money in selling these guides than in the actual doing of what is discussed.

lol, that's so true. And it is happening from the begining of time.....
The fact is that those guys really make so much money, but they make it from the books that they sell - not from the tips in ther books.
I can't think why those people should 'share' their 'secrets' if they are making less money by doing so. So it is obvious that they just compile together some of the best tips, make an ebook and then make money from selling it.
