Has anybody used Maya? Is it hard to learn? How much does it cost? Do I have to have a beefy PC to use it?

Maya is a 3D program, and that means that :

1) Is very expensive
2) Very hard to learn (you will need some classes, except if you know to use 3d studio)
3) It needs a very very good pc to work on. One of my associates who is working with Maya has a dual zeon pc and this is just a workstation for him. Nothing really special....

I think Maya has a free version as well, called "Personal Learning Edition" this version is fully functional but adds a watermark to any output generated. So you cant use this for 'production work' but its great to check out the program and see what it can do.
