BTW you can add a link to your directory here and here and then try to announce it to other webmaster forums too (there is allways a 'post your directory' thread in webmaster forums)
Thank you for submitting links (you to Chris), I will add them later to the posts you suggested first I need to add some more sub-categories and to write some rules (not everyone is friendly like you guys)

Hi Olaf,
I saw your question over in the eSyndicat forums before I saw this thread.
Which template did you start from? Just curious.
My site is nearing completion. It will be about arts and crafts. Someone I met on an arts and crafts forum has been giving me great feedback and I've had to spend quite a bit more time explaining things - like what a directory is and does.
Now that you have had a few days with the script, what are your impressions? This is the first time I've worked with something like that. I've been somewhat surprised how much editing of files I have to do to make any changes. Not that it is so difficult to do, just that it has to be done at all.

I like the script very much and the forum is also very quick with answering questions. At the end I don't change so much, just some style and the logo, I do almost everything via the admin panel.
I must say after a 3 hour trial I bought the pro version (I got some money for for a logo I designed ). This pro version has much more features and also ready to use email messages

I too bought the pro version. I started with the Kinky template. Took some pieces of another and now my site resembles neither. LOL.
You timed it well. Last week the forums appeared to be abandoned by the programmers. Claimed they were 'busy'. I was seriously considering trying to get a refund. Things are better this week and hopefully will stay that way.

I really wish they would invest some time and money on even a basic manual. Even if it was as basic as headings are controlled by the templates/<template name>/heading.tpl, the css (and explain this is done via the theme editor), etc. Something to at least get you started. I admit I don't know php and have not worked with scripts before, but I do know HTML, CSS and have programmed in most of the major languages; but even then I've had somewhat of a learning curve figuring out stuff. The folks with weaker backgrounds are really struggling. Perhaps, they as I did, didn't realize that buying a script meant doing so much editing of the files, unlike buying a finished program. While I like that it lets me set it up how I want it, it does make it a challenge.
The staff seem quite willing to help even with custom mods. And their frequent activity in the forum helped me to decide to purchase this script over the other one. It was just that they appeared to completely disappear for about a week; the week I purchased. During that time the entire site also went down for most of a day as well. Turned out to be a positive thing as they were moving to a bigger server, but the only explanation was buried in an existing thread. Don't know why there wasn't an apology and announcement of the improved service in a new thread - they could have turned it into a positive and used it to promote their increased customer service.
You will see a lot of I'll look into its that never translate into a solution, quote, or at least a promise to fix it in next release/patch. Those worry me some, but I am trying to keep things simple and hopefully won't run into any of those.
I like the product and should I make more sites of this nature will most likely purchase additional licensing.

yes, right I noticed there are a lot of relly beasic questions, I think I don't have the same problems like others...
I see a lot of things that have to be done in the next version (ver. 2 release arround sept./oct. 2006) but I think the script is able to work ... to build a complete directory... I started to add categories, links and information...
