Hi All,

Like Olaf, I recently purchased the eSyndicat script.

My site is: http://www.CraftyTips.com

It is a free directory for arts and crafts sites where they also provide a short tip on their craft.

It allows deeplinks, and up to 3 links in separate sub-categories.

Let me know what you think.

And of course if you have any craft related sites  Roll Eyes  you know what to do.

Hi,

nicely done the image and description inside each category!

I see one bad point, the front page with the left column is to long the visitor has to scroll to much...

I agree with Olaf about the categories.

Maybe you should replace that by a category cloud in the content area.

On the other hand is very good that your site is niche directory. This will help you with the promotion of it, but I believe that the layout needs some work.

I thought about the list being too long too.

I thought the traditional idea of the categories in the middle will be lost on crafters. Most crafty sites with multiple areas have the topics on the left.

Any ideas with that? I know it will look better if I get more content. Still only have a few listings that I didn't do. Nik, you mention the list and the layout. What are you thinking?

Several of the crafters I spoke to had to be told what a directory even is. Tells me I have a good idea, just have to do some educating too. I think many crafters have websites and don't have a clue about SEO or web marketing. Hmmm, maybe a blog or something would help too. Oh sheesh, I smell a 4th site and still haven't got much happening on first 3. Oh, I'm in trouble now. LOL

YMC,

of course you site must me accesible for your audience first, but don't forget this not so professional internet users doesn't have big screens. I leave site where I have to scroll too much...

about the layout, I think Nick is talking about that this layout has not the same class then your other sites...

Something you could do for start is making the distance between categories smaller,so the whole left side will be smaller.

Also I don't like the first page's content. You can replace this with a 'latest listings' list.
