Hi Nik and Co,
What do you all think of SMF SEO thats under development?
It looks like it's going to be pretty worthwhile as it'll help create the intelligent urls that we desperately need for a super spider friendly forum / community. It's definately a project that if it does what i'm hoping, i'll be happy to donate some cash.
Of course, Nik's got some crazy .html action working and getting nicely indexed already.... the joys of being capable with code i guess.
Cheers, Miyagi

I am not sure if a mod like this can really help. I have used something simillar here (as you can see), but I don't think that the forum urls is the SEO problem of a forum.
On the other hand as this is a free script, you may try it, and see how it works. But generally this URL thing is not used so much latelly(I have even know of people who have uninstall vbSeo from their vb forums because it didn't work well)
For me the real problem of a forum for SEO is the SESSIDs, which is very easy to get rid off, and the fact that the content of a forum post is not well 'understood' by a search engine. Latelly I am doing some experiments regarding this, and I will post my results some time.

I'm excited to see you results. It sounds like you are one of the few people who I've come across who have understood coding as well as seo. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for your good words and for reminding me this thread
Well I see some better results when I use javascript to display all the user info inside a thread.
It appears that search engines think that the link to a member's profile is associated with the content of his/her post, and that way the most search engine traffic was coming to the profile pages. Now I see more traffic to the threads, which is what I want.

This makes total sense. How does one go about doing this? Are you giving these secrets away or do we have to pay for them? Personally, I'd have no problem paying if I can actually start getting some SE traffic to my forum pages.

If you can't wait untill I have some time and share some of them, payment can allways be an option
For the particular modification maybe I will publish a solution in about 2-3 weeks.
