Here's a need trick I just found in notepad: start notepad and type .LOG in the first line, followed by enter. Save the file and now each time you open the text file the current date and time will be added after which you can type your log entry and save the file again.

I guess this is something that they forgot in windows from the 3.1 era.... (I mean I can't really understand the real usage for this, yet it is a funny thing )
