Just read a very interesting article about the javascript engine that each browser has.

The benchmark (which is available online from the site bellow) shows that Opera is much faster by the rest  browsers.

The graph can explain better :

actually Firefox is the slowest in the graph (takes the longest to run the benchmark) Opera beats the shit out of the competition in the benchmark. Still I'll stick to firefox!
