Do you use notepad or do you have a favorite editor?

Me, I use a free but very powerful and flexible editor called 1st Page 2000 from Evrsoft.

is this the first time that we have this thread? (it looks like)

My favorite is dreamweaver (version 8.0)
most important html/css features
  • code is OK valid w3
  • Nice css preview (box model)
  • Auto Code completion for all elements, attributes and also full CSS
  • Good PHP support

one bad thing is the speed of the ftp client (the whole ftp client sucks, but creates automaticly all folders)

I'm also using dreamweaver (version 6)  Olaf, is the newest version a lot better? I might have to get an upgrade...

sorry for my ignorance guys, i thought dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG editor.

to think that i have a copy of macromedia dreamweaver mx v6.1 just lying around here somewhere that i never had the chance to use. is it the same as the dreamweaver you guys are talking about?

Yes of course there is only one dreamweaver...

You have in dreamweaver 3 modes: code, code+layout and layout

the code editor is one of the best I know, but you're right if you use DW you pay for a WYSIWYG editor.

I use phpDesigner, but the best is propably the Komodo and the Visual Interdev.

yeah code coloring is useful, and btw, my favorite, 1st Page already has a new release, 1st Page 2006 and its free as well.

olaf, i installed my dreamweaver and its quite the same with 1st Page 2006...

since 1st Page has 4 modes: easy, normal, expert and hardcore... i think its very useful for everyone, even the newbies. i havent opened their hardcore mode yet but i will explore it when im not so busy. and since it is free... all the better for spend-thrifts like me. he he he...

Actually I test a lot of diff. programs and I think that Dreamweaver is not the best application (the ftp and file explorer sucks) but I need this coding features...I think that other tools are OK for other people, I write code 10 hours a day (often) thats why I need a little bit help Wink
