Latelly I heared that squidoo is a good way to promote your sites, but to be honest I am not sure how this works.

First of all squidoo offers you a page that called "lens" and you can use it to put content, rss feeds, links or anything else you want.

With some way (which I didn't realized yet) those lenses are ranked (for instance my lens about webmaster forums Visit through proxy is #15,206 right now) and this way they get more or less traffic.

So am I missing something? Did anyone here used that type of promotion? (I know that Olaf did as I read to his blog Visit through proxy)

I've read about this a while back but I'm not sure how this is a great way to promote your site. Sure its another link to your site which will help build PR and maybe even traffic but I see it as just that: another inbound link...

I had one that I forgot about and Olaf reminded me about it. So I decided to create a fresh one on web directories Visit through proxy (popular sources)... I will let you know how it turns out. I would suspect that you need a hot topic to get something out of it!

BTW I just mentioned that there is a 'Rate it' button in the up side of the lens.

Oh and you can rate your own lens too Smiley

I recon it is traffic and ratings from other people. Mine is 7 days old and 22 views (traffic).

I have added all your lens' (those that are relavent) to my lensroll. Click on the lensroll at the top of my lens if you wish to add mine to yours. It is a great way to network and help each other out!

I added lensrol and also you link to this list (nice and quick feature... I added also some more content (because I think that this is the secret) and I hope to get a higher ranking now! (looks like sport)
