Trouble with columns

Well I got my self into CSS troubles again


I have a XHTML strict layout with two columns, and I want to put a div in the one of those columns that will show up an advertisment.

My problem is that I want to create a column that after it ends, it will continue to display the normal content.

Here is an example :

While this works with Firefox, it wont work with IE. Can I have some suggestions please?
