Well, i check very often backlinks, link popularity etc. of my site. I get different results for every different backlink checking page. Ex. the results of iwebtool is different from domain-pop.com. How is this possible?
Also can somebody explain what is the difference between backlinks and link popularity?
Thank you.

It is possible as every company use their own way to find out how many links point to your site.
I use link:www...... in google to find out how many inbound links my sites have.

Each search engine calculate the incoming links in their own way.
If you check the link: query to google and yahoo, you will get a lot different results, because google for instance wont count links from unrelevant sources, or links from link farms, etc.
In any way I don't think this is important. The important for you is to get some quallity backlinks from sources that are relevant to your site.

The best way to look at progress would be to see whether you see an improvement in natural traffic to your site. Natural traffic means the traffic that you get when someone visits your site based on a search engine (not ppc) result. Also when you start getting traffic from one way links it is a good sign that you are doing better.

I also noticed that when i search for link:myurl and "myurl" it shows different results... Is this because sites not related to my site link back to me?

No. This is because in the first query you search for sites that link to you, while in the second you search for the term mysite....
