How long did it take you?

How long did it take you to became a webmaster. I mean how many years or months you have spent to master languages and skills you have now. Please identify length and what kind of skills.

Thats a hard question to answer. I ve been running websites for a few years now, so thats how long it took to learn what I know now. But I m still learning new stuff every day!

I think that you will never stop learning, as the internet is something that changes every day.

Personally I created my first site in 96 but I stoped running sites for some years, and started again in 2004. But all this time I was living (and I still do) from creating web sites.

yes right a web developer is learning every day or he is retired

I agree, you need to learn all times, especially now where it comes to "new" techniques like ajax. But also small things like P3P policies, ICRA labels, optimal CSS coding - this is a never ending process. Yet - it makes fun

Of course it makes fun, and this is because we are geeks

I've worked and desinged sites for about 7 years but had been doing them mainly for myself as a hobby and just recently decided to take the plunge into designing for money since my sister had 2 strokes back in August.

i agree. you can probably get the hang of it after a year or so but theres still sooo much to learn and that you dont want to stop searching for more. its like an unquencheable thirst for knowledge!

learning is one thing that has to end and on the internet its a ocean in itself, no one can ever explore it completely

I'm still learning. I think it's an ongoing thing.

I'm working with websites from 2003. About 5 months I started to learn SEO. And I still learning it now

All of these stuff (programming, seo, web design) are things that you will never stop to learn

Yes,it's really a hard question to answer.Web developer means not a simple job.We have to learn day to day updates,What actually people are looking for and how to meet their requirements.It's a continuous process.One can't say the exact answer.

That's really not easy, every case is unique.

You have to learn it and that's not easy.

i know a lot of people who're in web development, and the best of them never stop learning. as for me, though i've learned a lot during the 2 years i'm in, this seems to be only the beginning
