my day will come..

« on: Oct 24, 2006, 01:29:06 AM »

Here comes a new geek named Eliezer, I used to work as a programmer at Woodwing México (www.woodwing.com Visit through proxy) but I quit today to work on a personal project and I think I may find some way to earn some money to survive while I work at this new project.. I just may.

So, I'm 22 and I'm the funny man, someone baptized me like that already on this forum. I don't know why I'm funny but that nickname reminds me of that one movie about killing bandits called The Boondock Saints so I may do what the funny man did to those guys who made fun of him.. go figure out.

haha.. just kidding man.
peace out.

Hi eliezer and welcome to our community Smiley

I like the fact that you quit your job to do something on your own.

The ancient g(r)eeks said "I tan i epi tas" which means "victory or death", a good advice for people who try....

BTW are you a php junkie like the most of us, or a betrayer microsoft programmer? Smiley

I'm a PHP junkie I guess Nikolas! "I tan i epi tas" sounds motivating hehe..
Anyway, speaking about Microsoft, I preffer Windows than Linux. And I know that Linux's Kernell is better than Window's core, but.. mhh... I guess I was born in the Microsoft era.
haha
peace

I use windows too on my pc, but I want to completely switch to linux as in our days is much easier to work on, and it is also capable of running windows apps like Photoshop (with wine)

BTW where are you from eliezer?

From Monterrey, México. Probably you'd hear about it or will hear about it next year.
I have Linux (K)Ubuntu on my PC (in another partition) and yeah, I mean, you can even replace Photoshop by Gimp but Photoshop has some advantages like Plugins and stuff.

Do you know if Mac's OSx is also a Kernell operating system? Because I used a Mac for the first time ever last month and it looks like Linux was developed to be as Mac alike as possible.
I mean, you even got the Term with almost the same commands.
I find it just interesting...
Where ya from, what do you do for a living man?

Cool, I like Mexico because it has weather simmilar to my place. I live in Greece, and I am a web developer (how strange for that forum huh? Smiley )

Ubuntu is great, but also it is a little strange to people that allready have linux (those root/sudo things) but it is the best. I have to tell you that this server runs on a custom Ubuntu installation Smiley

Before I wasn't talking about using Gimp onlinux, but using Photoshop. This can be done with a great app called wine, which runs windows applications, and it simply rocks....

The Macs are great machines, but unfortunatelly they are going to put intel processors to the new models, so they wont be so good in the future, as they will now use MMX architecture instead of the RISC that they had till now. I have used mac some times, and I am very mpressed that this OS can't be crashed (and I really tried...) BTW the Mac OS is using a lot of stuff that is open source and used in linux (eg. the window manager)

Well that GNU deal in Mac explains a bunch of stuff about the similiarities with Linux.

And yeah, I heard about Intel. So now you cannot just use Windows on a Mac, you can also use Windows with an Intel processor, haha.. who would have pictured this huh..

And yeah, I know you can run Photoshop, even Flash on Linux..
You said you like that I quit my job to start my own project.. do you have your own company?
It's like my goal in my life, run a succesfull bussiness. Smiley

Yes I have a small office, but I am going to close it and work from home as it is more fun and less expensive Smiley

In the beginning I started the office for several reasons, but as none of my clients come here, and as all my associates work from their homes I finally decided to do it this way.

In fact this week is the last in the office, and I have to move all the stuff.....

Hope you will reach your goal, and also I hope that we can help you on that Smiley As you can see this is a small community, but we act more like a "familly" as all of us have the same goal.

BTW do you have any plan, or you are just searching for it?

I believe it's great that you run your own bussiness, as one could say.
Working from home is convenient as long as one (as you well said) has his own contacts.

And yeah, it seems here like a comfortable board! Im still wondering if my Subject on this post was kinda harsh or something.. hehe.. no bad intentions. never.

I do have a plan. It's about developing a platform on intranet and internet for small/medium schools, hospitals, corporations, etc.. Then it comes the hard part, finding customers. (x

I'm off to bed sir, 2.10am here and I got a Tech-Support job Interview in some hours.. If they give me the job I'll have until Nov 7th to finish my own work.. Smiley
Take care and have a really great day!
