Hi all,

Are you using any firewall to your pcs? I use the firewall that windows have embedded, but it seems that it allows a lot of spyware programs to use the internet connection.

What firewall software do you use?

I use Sygate personal firewall, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Maybe I will wait for the replies in this thread to change it....

I just got cable and need to install some sort of firewall too now. I used zonealarm once before and it just seemed so difficult to configure. Are there any more anyone can suggest?

Hi there,

Norton PErsonal Firewall 2007:
Virus and spyware removal is unusually slow. Real-time protection can report same threats over and over.
Besides, Firewall pop-ups can be hard to interpret.

I won't be buying another symantec product again.

Additional security links:

I hope this helps.

The rooter is the most simple way, but can't really do much when you run services to the outer world Smiley

For example in a web server, a rooter can't really do anything special.

just the case of a webserver
what are the possibilities of a software firewall if only port 80 is opened?

You need an antidos module to the web server. And believe me this is really needed if your datacenter is not providing you a PIX.

For instance check the Dos attacks of this server for the last two days :

Then of course you don't have problem, but that would be something very custom, as the majority of web servers are open to public Smiley

Smiley I use (and highly recemend) these:

Anti Virus = Avast Home Edition (free)

Firewall = Comodo Personal Firewall (free)

I've used other software, like Sygate, etc... But these are updated reguarly.
