As latelly this site got a really impressive ammount of referer spam, I thought webdigity needs a live referer spam protection.

I've just made a script that does this work, and I hope this way we will be able to save some bandwidth.

Let me know if you experience any problem with it (just let me know if you get any "restrict access" page)

Don't know if it is relevant or not, but the past couple of days there's been a bit of wierdness with private messaging for me.

When I come here,  I almost always go to unread posts first. When the pop-up for messages shows up, I usually cancel. (In the past clicking read now didn't work.) When the unread list comes up I click on the number of messages listed in the User Area. Instead of taking me to the messages area, it takes me to the front page of the forum. If I go back to the unread list and click on the messages link a second time, then it works.

Like I said, don't know if related to spam changes, I haven't used PM's since your press release for Web 2.0 Announcer Visit through proxy.

Michelle, I saw this too before some days, and I thought somehow it is connected with the new version of Firefox (2.0)

What browser you were using the time this happened?

I think there is a bug in FF 2.0 when the visitor is redirected in some case...

Then this is propably a bug for FF.

Also I've noticed that this mostly happens when I click on a link with the middle button (to open it in a new tab)

I've got the same error in FF (version 1.5.0.8 ) since a couple of days. Clicking on an unread message takes me to the front page, hitting the back button and clicking again will take me to the message...

This is so strange.

The only way that the site is sending location headers is when you are visiting a non www. version of the site, but even then it redirects you to the www version of the page you were going to.

I will try to debug this, but I am almost convinced that this is a problem of FF.

You mean only for webdigity, or any email link?

only webdigity, I don't think that its a FF bug, I think it started with the new main page (the same time where my avatar was gone)

Then it looks like I have to find some time for debugging.....

The strange is that the antispam module is also redirecting the user, but it redirects with javascript to the page that you are visiting anyway.

I will check it again and let you know. Thanks for the input Smiley

Finally it was my fault.

Now it is ready. Please let me know if the problem continues (I mean the redirection problem)

Also I've added some checks in the register process to minimize the spam sign ups. Hope this will work Smiley

One of my IPs is  on your list. It's been hijacked by spammers in the past and I'm trying to clean it up. If you can please unlist 74.86.118.21, so my clients emails aren't being blocked by anyone.
