Google's custom search engine problems.

Google's custom search engine has some problems and
i don't know if anyone can help with this but if not, others should be aware of them.  First, I haven't been able to see any support from Google for this product at all so that is a problem. I even registered at the special site for the Google custom search engine and no support links.

Second, it doesn't seem to pick up everything in your site. If you go to this page - http://realestate-synergy.com/usmenu.php/25/2/1/y/Prop_Pub/price/North_America/United_States/ $state//$category/1/2/
and scroll down a little to the row for New York you'll see there is a record, and a link to another page. Both this page and the one it links to have the name "NEW YORK" in it yet if you try to get the Google search to find it on  the site it comes up empty.  New York is definitely in the source code and it is also in the title of the target page of the link. It seems strange that Google will pick up "New York" in the title and description to help itself for calling up relevant ads (see the Google ads are usually something to do with the title) but the Google search won't pick it up. Hmmmm.

I too have noticed where it is not finding things. I know the things are indexed because they are listed in the regular Google results or come up with a slightly different search phrase.

As far as I know the search engines don't always index complete pages, but only the first x number of characters. There are some tools that let you view your site like the bots see it. You can find one here looking at your page thru this tool doesn't show much content that makes sense, however I do see New York there...

you should check the CSE group, never saw so much postings from Google officials!

this tool doesn't show much content that makes sense, however I do see New York there...

but it is doing what I want. The script checks the db and reports and displays how many records in that caregory. Right now there is hardly any data but there is a few demo records for testing in the New York cat. The search engines are spidering it, I see the hits too it in my stats. That's why this custom search engine neglecting it doesn't make sense. I'm sort of glad other people are noticing the problem but I like the idea and I hope we can figure out the bugs. I really have to give it some thought whether it is an advantage to have a "half a search" capability or better to have none at all. Without it users need to rely on their own intellect and the navigation structure. With a search engine they assume it is acciurate so if a search doesn't pull a result their gone, off to another site for what they want.

Looks like CSE will help many people with SEO

Google is a semantic search engine. For example this site is a webmaster community. But a community is relevant to a forum. If you search "webmaster forum" you'll find that site, but if I try to create a section about "gardening" in this site it will never get a position to the SERPs as all the links to this site indicate that this site has nothing to do with this subject.

Maybe your problem is relevant to that?
