I wonder at the value of some of those cc tlds.  The ones for the small island nations don't have much worth.

Most of the tlds have no value, but there are allways some cool implementations that can make worth.

For example do you remember the welcome.to hosting service?

Being Australian, I wish they would free up .com.au. There was a very short debate about it a couple months ago. Right now unless your a registered company, you cant have the top level australian domain...its b.s

Anyone signed up for a new .mobi for websites targetting mobile phone users. Theres a push on for these atm.

You mean that even as an australian resident you can't buy an .au domain?

Ya heres the details. As an individual citizen you cant buy the standard .com.au domain space unless you have an abn. Which means you have to register as a sole proprietor of a business or better (proper company etc )

http://www.auda.org.au/domains/au-domains/ Visit through proxy

There was a short debate, but I notice they didnt publicise it at all about opening it up for "domain monetiziation".

I could buy a .id.au, but who on earth knows about that extension? Its pointless. Theres no such thing as buying a strictly .au, such as there is for www.domain.us Visit through proxy or www.domain.be Visit through proxy.

That's no good at all, but at least you can buy a good domain in your business when you want to, right? Smiley

Wow man. The Iceland government should check the pricing again. It looks like you have the most expensive tld in the world!

Well the avarage money one icelander earns in a month is around 3k so $180 isn't that much.

yeah, I think that most people here earn the same amount, but the costs for a .nl domain is less then 10euro. I have customers with hundreds of .nl domain names, don't wanna think about this rates...

anyway, if my residence was iceland I would register only .com domain names (for $7 at godaddy.com)

Of course I would. But then few good .is domains would be available.
