Recently I decided to start some ecommerce activities. To be more specific, I want to finish some incomplete scripts that I have in my ownership, and start selling them for low prices.
As this is ecommerce activity will target to webmasters, I thought that this could also help webdigity and vise versa.
But I am not sure which would be the strategy for doing this. My options are :
1) Create an eshop inside the webdigity community to sell those products.
2) Create one small site for each product. All mini sites will point to webdigity for support issues.
The first way seems to be more proffesional (maybe) but has also some problems. I think that with the addition of an eshop here the site will be very complexed (at least for the new visitor) and maybe "scary" for the visitors. Also it will be more difficult to code this but this is not my concern right now.
The second way (which is the one I am taking more seriously now) has some advantages. For example it will be much easier to sell a product from a mini site which will have information only regarding the product (one product = one site), and those mini sites will be able to SEOed easier as they will be part of my network.
What do you think I shall do? I will deeply appreciate your opinion on this

Nick, go for the second, otherwise it give the idea to visitors there is a premium membership or the forum is used to attract possible customers.
I think the support link to webdigity is also an good idea, check all the referees from finalwebsites.com (same id, but I don't get money for my scripts ). Think also about affiliates (for later), you can't handle them from a site as webdigity.
By the way I'm thinking about to split bigger projects from finalwebsites.com to keep my website flexible.

How many products do you have? I would have a separate site to sell your software. Not sure about having one site for each though... are they are totally different?

I have 3 products and they are totally different. All of them are scripts, but there is no direct connection between them.

I agree with wineo, one new site to sell your products would be a good idea. That way you can sell all the scripts under one brand name, making the brand name more widely recognized. Ofcourse the support would be at the webdigity forums, like Olaf does with his scripts. What products are you working on?

Well the brand name will be HumanWorks (which is the name of my company) or maybe something like webdigity scripts.
In that case there will be one page with some listings of the products here, and each product will have each own site.
What do you think of this?
The first product will be a referrer spam free statistics program (this idea came because I couldn't find a statistics program that really helps)
The other is an arcade script (which is much better than the scripts that exist in the market, but I am kind of afraid to publish it as this is a very saturated market)
BTW as you are really helping with your posts in this thread, you should know that you will be the first to use those scripts (for free of course )

Yeah don't forget hotscripts!
That is very kind of you Nick! Thanks man!
Is your arcade script about arcade games?
I have been thinking about and planning to adding a referral program to my directory. I would imagine that there is a fair deal to code and take into consideration when make a referral system.

of course use webdigity for promotion (and don't forget hotscripts & co.).
I think you can do much more to promote the products with the help of webdigity and his members (exchanging links/banners for example)
Right webdigity anyway don't make any serious money from adsense, so I will propably replace those ads with the ads for the products.
Hotscripts will be the first place that I'll use to promote those products.
And of course the help from my mates here would be a great thing, especcilly when I will be able to publish an affiliate program.

Yeah that would be a second plan. I mean this will happen after some time, and it will hold all the products (I mean one affiliate account for all products)
