haha...of course i know about PHP5's OOP capabilities...they're just not that great.  get .NET and VS.NET and watch the dynamic, valid sites fly off your comp.  PHP? not so much.  There's nothing you can do in PHP that I can't do in .net, but the opposite is true.

(I'm not sure about how and what but I heard something about .net in version 6)

I'm sure you can do a lot of php functions in .net but with PHP it is free! before your start programming you have to pay

plus think about the big php community, of course if you can handle this high prices against projects with php then go for it...

If you want to create PDF's with "TallPDF.NET 2.0" you need to pay at least 500$ for a standard server fpdf.org is free

maybe you don't pay but someone else is paying for you Wink

Look I have to build a windows server for an old asp application, I become sick with all this license fees (SQL, aspupload...)

But Nick maybe we should switch to the .net group. There is more money to earn, because there are enough people paying more for the same (or less)

.net is worth it...considering all the time you save w/VS.NET, it's SOOO much more efficient than php.  plus, i use mysql with .net, so you don't even have to worry about licensing fees and such.  just get a server running windows on it and drop in a mysql adapter dll.  i've got one if you want it Smiley

The worst of .NET and all Microsoft technologies - in my opinion - is the fact that the documentation is allways different from the truth (=bugs) and that the overhead in the end makes your application more expensive.

The requirements for servers are allways less in an open source/*nix environment than a windows based one, and that's the reason that the majority of the servers in the internet use Apache and php.

the bad thing is that the application is ready there is now change possible. I think its a rumor that everyting has to be done within PHP, there are lots of custom classes which you can use for free. I think the most bad thing about PHP are from people didn't checked the latest PHP technology and at the end .net people using more time to build an application...

.NET is just a giant library for really lazy people made by a company with too much money. PHP is fun to program in, and, although at some points creates a challenge, you learn and move on to the next hurdle.

Jemgames, I agree with you, but of course there are things that can't be done with php and can be done with .NET (especially with Delphi for .net) but this is for enterprise applications, and always for companies that have no problem with buying servers Smiley

Sure. Plus php 6.0 is going to have much more stuff for enterprise projects. And the best thing is the open source community that always develops great libraries/projects
