think about how people reach your site and how external ads could drive away the visitirs, normally its better to have ads after there are good sales. Otherwise there is the chance that people interested in your product will visit the site from an advertiser before they buy your product

So, you recommend just placing one adsense banner from Google, and more of the products for what I'm selling, but not too over the top of course

place adsense only on websites that are selling products, all visitors you have on this site are coming via link to your site (I think its very difficult for your site to get visitors via Google).

Build another reference type site to promote this shop site and place adsense there...

and think about, you need several hundred unique visitors a day to get some acceptable earnings with ads

I will agree. Your homepage should keep the visitor to the site, and make him/her understand what is your site about.

Remove all the ads from the homepage, and add some content from the modules of the site (eg. latest news, recent discussions, etc.)

This way you will be able to convert the visitors to members to your site, while now you are trying to convert them in money (which is very soon to do so, as obviously you don't have enough traffic to monetize this site)

Hope that helps Smiley

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to place new topics, who's online, etc.. onto my index.html page. I've looked at smf's website and found trying to insert <?php require('./SSI.php'); ?> on to the first line then add this <? ssi_topTopicsViews(); ?> some where on the page don't work.

Does this need to be a .php file or is there something I'm missing?

You can ask SMF related stuff at this board Visit through proxy Wink

Anyway I haven't used the SSI before, but I would suggest to try first something like this :

<? echo ssi_topTopicsViews(); ?>

ok, guys I've managed to get the SSI.php file to work. I know this is off topic for this area, but since it's related if you don't mind I'll tell what I did briefly.

Right, all I did is to change the .html file to .shtml then add the lines: <!--#include virtual="./SSI.php?ssi_function=recentTopics" -->

Thats it!  Smiley

Now, back to business, I've updated the index page, by removing Googles banners, etc... except for one banner thats used for the website to promote/advertise the ringtones.

I've added an article system, where users can apply for free for an account by email, but I want to know what you think so far.

Wink

Now your front page looks much better, but I think it still needs work on it.

First I think you don't need the aggrerator buttons in the top of your page, and maybe you should make those silver containers (for the forum related content) a little smaller.

yea, I agree with the title boxes being too large. belive me I've been trying to get them smaller, but I think the css file(s) is stopping it, I'll have a look.

It looks much better now, but I think some additional work could also be done.

But as I am out of inspiration right now, I will check this out later Smiley
