Just saw another Google "experiment" which looks like nothing, but I think it is very effective (at least it took my attention at once)

Here is the new format I saw :

Visit through proxy

Check the "ads by Google" at the bottom.

I think that pulls the attention away from the actual ads...

I have seen the same, as well as a higher pay per click, but I don't think that is only because of this new ad format. In fact I haven't seen this ad on my own sites yet.

It is automatic.

Now I see an ad like the usual ones, but after the "ads by google" has the google button Smiley

Seems like it is counterproductive. It's like being shouted at, "Just in case you don't realize that this content is an ad, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE SURE YOU SEE THAT THEY ARE GOOGLE ADS."

To me it takes away from the ads and were I an advertisor, I would not be happy. Is G more focussed on advertising themself or their advertisors?

I think you have a point here, we will see if this ad format is used often (in never saw it until now)

I don't think that google cares to advertise themselves, and don't forget that adsense is their only income stream.

They have to create the best possible CTRs Smiley
