This question was brought up today in an argument with a friend. Is there such a thing at too much indenting? From indenting every attribute on a tag and then indenting every attribute on a style (in included) to no indenting any tags. Where do you stand on this, is it even important?

Well INHO it is important to have a valid site for many reasons.
One of the main reasons is that valid sites load faster. When the site load faster the user experience is better, so the earnings are more
Regarding the alt attribute, it is more important as it helps with SEO. In fact many people claim that some search engines give some weight to XHTML valid sites (eg. MSN) but this is not so sure.
not that some attributes are required and don't forget if you use optional attributes than use them for purpose for what they are made for. example a "title" or "alt" with a 20 (or longer) text is not the meaning how to use them
