2007 predictions in the IT market

Another year is in front of us, and it seems that many things are going to change this year in the internet market, as the passed one prepared the ground already.

For instance the acquisition of youtube by google is something that can bring in new changes, and as Neil Patel sais, "there will be ads merged within or at the beginning of videos". I tend to agree to that as there is no other way of survival for this site.

On the other hand Tony Hung believes that pay per post blogging will grow, which is also very reasonable as pay per blog services give both SEO and traffic benefits to their advertisers, while they are more targeted than any other form of advertising.

Personally I am not sure which is the next big thing for 2007, but I am sure that something big is about to happen as the competition is really big, and especially when we are speaking for the big companies. For instance Microsoft is releasing their new ad center - as a delayed response to the adsense phenomenon - while they are releasing their new Vista operating system (which can cause more linux users, or a Microsoft monarchy ). Yahoo may finally release the YPN which can change the advertising market a lot.

Now in addition to the alliance of Microsoft with Yahoo, this can bring even more interesting results, and as Allen Stern sais "Yahoo! has the net... Microsoft has the apps... Yahoosoft will be able to compete (and win) with (against) Google."

Google probably have learned that they can't rule the world so easily by entering every single market with new products, so I guess they will start buying companies (maybe a social network?) and start making "friends" (eg. myspace)

Talking of myspace, the last podcast predicts that "users will recongnize that MySpace sucks and will either move over to facebook (not much better, but better), or find something else to waste their time on". I really agree that myspace sucks, and when I've started using it as a marketing experiment, I realized that I was dealing with the worst application I ever found (even worse than Windows 2000 ) But I can't agree that myspace will fall so easily. My guess is that myspace will grow even more in 2007, and people will move on after more years...

I forgot to say something about Digg Digg can be bought by a big company who wants to play in the social bookmarking chess - I am talking about Google of course - but there is another point of view that Noah Kagan points to, saying that "The 500 17 year olds who control the site off there MAC laptops with tons of stickers will move on to another site. They will learn about women, start showering and spend less time digging."

That's a funny point of view, but I don't think that this will happen, as digg is evolving

Also I believe that the blogging community will be grow even more, as blogging is now a real - stable community and not just a buzz (that used to be before 1-2 years).

I think it will be the year of the Internet is more important then your operating system, this year has seen a huge shift in activities my laptop is now used for three things making calls and using Firefox and playing multimedia!
I watch tellie wherever I am thanks to my digitv access via server, I listen to music through lastfm and pandora, I write documents in Google Docs (though I still use open office occasionally) All in all the browser has become the centre of my world and I think it will continue down this path.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this might be the year thin clients come back into fashion, all you need is a browser?

Interesting thought Tim. And in fact when the browser thing will be done, the real mobile era will start (as mobile phones are more like pcs in our days)
