and welcome to our small community. Hope you'll enjoy your stay here
It seems that I have to post more at SP
So will you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi Nikolas,
Thanks for the welcome, I don't go in SP that much myself to be honest!
Here goes.
I am a shift worker that lives in Darwen, lancs, UK.
I started a website as an hobby in December 2004 and I have read lots, mainly from forums etc.
My website is dedicated to DIY and home improvement, at first I had no idea about websites but my site quickly grew and is doing quite well to say it is still just a hobby!
I'm doing well in most of the major search engines, but I am always looking to expand my site and I often spend hours taking pictures and building new pages, I actually enjoy making my website!
Many of the posts that I read in forum are about how to make big bucks from Google, that does not interest me, I just want to make the biggest and best DIY website that I can. I have had lots of help and advice along the way from various forums, I am sure that some people will recognise me from other webmaster forums.
In fact Nikolas I have seen your picture a few times before, but I am not sure where. Do you have your avatar picture in other forums, or just this one?
I just read a few posts and saw that you are from Greece!
I have a very good friend that lives in Crete, I try to visit crete at least once a year.
Last year I visited Cyprus, Crete, Spain and Florence.
Mainland Greece is in my diary for next year hopefully.

That's cool, and in fact the only way to success is to do something that you really enjoy. I don't like SP too, and to be honest - I am not sure if I ever said that before - I started this community because of this
BTW what DIY stands for? I am not an native english speaker so I am not familiar with this term
The avatar I use, was the avatar I used to every single forum I was a member till lately that I use an avatar with webdigity's logo
BTW looks like the forum is reserved for you and me today. New year's eve is coming, and people stay away from their computers

Ah,
DIY is short for do it yourself- home improvement etc.
It is not new years eve here for another few hours lol
Your English is excellent to say it is not your first language. My friend in Crete is also very good at English.
This is a good forum, you have done well with it!

Here in Greece, english is like a second language, and even that the greek government sucks, we have a high education level (thanks to god I suppose ). Personally I learned english from forums, and especcially from this If you check the first posts you will see for yourself that my english were really bad when this site started
Crete is a great place. I am very far away from Crete, but I can assure you many great persons live there (at least I have never meet a bad person from Crete)

This is a good forum, you have done well with it!
I am glad that you say that. It is the most time/money consuming site I own, but I really love this community feeling, and I can't change that for anything in the world

Good, as long as you enjoy what you are doing. That is the most important thing!
Keep up the good work, I will be back on over the next few days.
All the best for the new year

Hey another brit... I looked at your site (one in the sig) in January I'm teaching a course on Viral marketing and am looking for example sites, if your interested your site fits my bill perfectly, don't know if its of any interest but let me know via pm here. The idea is to take example sites and demonstrate different approaches from redesigns to article submissions on how the site can be funnelled your site is great because of the lack of advertisement. It wouldn't cost you a penny and you wouldn't have to change anything if you like the ideas implement them if not I still have had a good example site.
oddly enough I was over in Crete this summer as well.
