I just found out that you can speed up the loading of web pages quite a bit by changing some settings in Firefox.

To get to the configuration settings type about:config in the address bar, this will show you all the configuration variables. Type network in the filter field to show only a subset of the variables.

About halfway down, you will find the variable network.http.pipelining, change it to true by double clicking it. The next variable in the list is network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, you should change this to a higher value like 10.

Happy browsing!

I have not checked how much faster the page loading is, but it does feel like pages are loading faster. (could be all in the mind though... Wink )

here's what it says about the pipelining:

Note: Pipelining is not well-supported by some servers and proxies. Things may break ? use with caution.

here's some more info about pipelining: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/http/pipelining-faq.html
