Hi,
I'm Chris. I do a little web design and programming. No kind of guru at anything but I love to tinker. I got an email about the logo contest and thought I'd send in one and felt it would be rude to do so without at least saying hi!
I work full time doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that for a software company. I do a little tiny bit of VB programming but mostly web stuff, ASP, PHP, etc. I do a little web design on the side. I also live on and work a horse farm and I am also in school finishing up a degree in IT. I'll be finishing up my schooling in March so I will probably have more time to come here and learn stuff. I look forward to it!
Chris

Hi Chris and welcome aboard!
Your life looks like a miracle to me I mean it's cool to code in many languages, and live/work in a horse farm. Isn't it?
BTW where are you from?
We will wait for your entry in the contest Wish you good luck

Thanks
Sometimes it's a miracle that I find time to sleep! LOL! It does make for a good contrast though, getting all frazzled mentally at work, then coming home and getting dirty doing all the farm work which sort of helps me to unwind. Then on days the horses and critters decide to give me a hard time, I can escape to my office!
I am in Sandy Spring, MD. Yeah I really like trying new things. I think the weak point of it is that I am not really great in any one thing. I'd like to settle on a language/platform that I really enjoy and get very good at it. However, the nice thing about coding is the more you do it, the easier it gets in all forms.
I'll put my simple logo up on the other thread.

Cool. Your life is close to my dream. I would like to go live somewhere away from the big city I live, and have many animals. I don't care if those would be horses or hippos as I love every animal, and I know how great is to live with them
Regarding the coding thing, I think you should find a php framework to work with. I think it is the best solution for someone who is coding in microsoft technologies, as a good framework can give you an extended php language that works exactly as it supposed to (I was coding vb too, and I know how buggy is that language no matter how automated is....)

Cool, I'll look into frameworks, thanks for the tip. Are there any you recommend? I also have a couple sites on Unix boxes that I plan to do some PHP on, any you recommend for that environment?

Personally I use a custom framework. It isn't something special, but it is a set of tools I've created over the years to make my job easier. The most well known and official php framework is pear but I can't really express an opinion to that.

Hi again,
Cool I'll look into that, thanks a lot. Yeah it makes sense that after a while you would have certain functionalities, etc that you would like and use over and over again. Most folks have a "toolbox" they do that with. Since I've not used php long enough to have those sorts of preferences, using Pear or similar makes a lot of sense!
Thanks again, Chris
