As every web developer knows writing an application that deal with many languages is a hard task, and especially in php (at least until the next version which will handle UTF-8 better) is maybe a little bit harder.

I just found this great tutorial Visit through proxy regarding UTF-8 in php - mysql applications, and thought to post it here for future reference.

Feel free to add your comments or maybe your findings regarding that subject Smiley

there is no problem using utf-8 in php4 and older databases, The only thing you need is to post the form with utf-8 to the database.

this way I created websites in several eastern European languages
