Thought it was worth letting people know that Drupal 5.0 is now out of beta.
More details on the drupal.org Visit through proxy web site.
Guess its time to go round and update some old sites, just a note of warning modules for 4.7 are not compaitble with Drupal 5 so some sites will have to wait while module writers make their releases.

Cool. I never tried drupal before, but as it is so popular - and professional from what I've heared - maybe I should give it a try.

It's our preferred CMS primarily because it so flexible, its access control system means clients never see the backend yet, still have full control in terms of content placement, what stories make it to the front page etc. I think it is well worth trying out, we recently ran a series of blog posts on Drupal 4.7 using it to create a digg like site with no programming at all!
this gives you an idea of the power in terms of modules, of course for the php developer its great as it works logically it took me about 10 minutes to write a hello world style module, from no real knowledge now we routinely build new modules and adapt them as we see fit.

I am in the process of redoing the digg tutorials for drupal 5 which I will post up a link when done but in the mean time have a play, if you do, then download and install the cck & views module as well we have a tutorial on cck up on the blog, views is coming.

Tim I think you should make a blog about Drupal. You know much about this software, and as a good advisor you could really make such a site succeed.

....just an opinion Smiley
