As you may know there are many SEO specialists who believe that links from .edu domains can increase your pagerank and trustrank with google. Personally I don't really care about pagerank, but I do care for SERPs, so I would love to know how to get links from edu sites.
One simple method is to search something like that in Google and you'll find many edu blogs where you can post comments. But as comments are usually rel="nofollow" this wont help.
Does anyone here knows any way to do this? I am sure that there are many ways to get edu links.

I have my .edu link from the college I graduated from. They list graduates' websites on the alumni pages. I've only got that one - don't know if it has made that much of a difference, but I do know that it got indexed fairly quickly for both my name, company name and as a backlink.

Actually I checked there before and contacted their admin, and yes they dont allow non-US based institutions, ive been looking for an alternative since then...
But I think its difficult for a non-us based institution to get one.
It's not that difficult as long as you're a university I remember an article froma few years ago where one Swedish university got a .edu domain, but today when I visited I got redirected to some weird page: www.mm.edu So I guess you can somehow keep your .edu domain if you loose your university status.
