Resizing an Adobe Illustrator object

I am using CS2 on Windows and have a group of elements that i am trying to scale in proportion. Well the scaling bit is not a problem, it is the shadow affect on the one element and the shading on some others that is not keeping proportion. I have made sure to check the item "Scale Strokes and Effects" when scaling, but this still does not help.

Any suggestions?

I can't help you as I am not good enough with graphics, but I could suggest you something that I allways do. You can edit the file with another program such as corel or flash and then import it again to illustrator
