I have just tried Joomla and was disappointed to find that the "author" is not able to add a picture from his desktop to his story that he is writing.  He either needs to link to a URL of an external image or use one of the pictures already on the server (placed there by a publisher).

I want an editing environment similar to blogger where the author can "browse" to a file on his local machine and it will get uploaded to the server and a proper path to the image is written to the story.

If I remember correctly, there seem to be a Drupal enthusiast on this forum.  Does Drupal have this?  Or is there an editor pluggin that allows for this?

Hi, I'm sure there is a plugin to do that. I used TinyMCE last time inside my Custom CMS and bought the filemanager plugin, must say that this was great (but's its ?50)

I found the JCE plugin for Joomla.  It replaces the TinyMCE editor and includes an image uploaded.  Very nice, exactly what I wanted.  It allows you to style the <img> tag and easily create linkable and hover over images.
