I don't think there is any CMS out there that has AJAX modules by default, but I guess all CMSs will have some extra modules for that kind of functionality.
In general I haven't used any CMS in the past, but I want to try Drupal as I got some very good recommendations from Tim Nash. Regarding AJAX I guess it should have something but I guess you'll have to check this out on your own

Drupal 5 has some pretty clever javascript out of the box, and has a module called jscript, which is oozing with ajax goodies for custom content, its javascript calendar is fantastic, as is its auto pagination form (allowing you to develop multipage forms, that save in real time, do relevant checks and the user never leaves the page) I'm going to be running a Drupal AJAX tutorial on our blog soon, but some of it such as wform intergration is just to simple, simply enable the module, and specify a div tag for relevant action.
So if I press Alt F4... What?

Hope its not too late to add that modx is probably the only web2.0 out of the box CMS (according to its website - I am not affiliated) But you can search the CMS matrix for the features that you want from your cms or the opensourcecms to see live demos of most CMS's without the need to install them
As for drupal it does kick some major ass - but still its not Ajaxy out of the box (I am in the process of learning that beast)

CMS's ? tikiwiki, joomla, wikkawiki, modx before I settled for drupal, all except for modx where bloated/bulky with code. Modx has an interesting ajaxy editing interface. I have even tried building one but realized it takes time to get it right.
I must say I am in Love with Drupal even though it has taken me some time to grasp the inner workings of it (still have not finished any project on Drupal - but I am soon) If you ask me drupal can probably do 90% of the websites that need CMS.
Friendly community and helpfull and if you take a look at the cleanliness of the code you will fall in love with it too. Lots of modules activelly developed in one central space (all of them free - some also donated to the community from NOW big websites that have taken advantage of the power of drupal)
On the other hand I think that choosing a CMS should be something reevaluated for each project ?! And thus I am constantly evaluating the major releases through opensourcecms.com

Another Drupal fan! I'm a huge fan of Drupal and have been for a while though I would say it has a steep learning curve for developers but is by the far the most flexible when combined with CCK & Views
